Getaway.

Mr. is a hunter. I'm learning to appreciate this hobby (practically lifestyle) of his. Growing up my Dad took me fishing but never hunting. Weston knew how to use a gun before he was a teenager. In the past few years I've learned a few things...

1. Camo is going to be a part of my life whether I like it or not. {I now own one article of clothing with this classy pattern.}
2. Hunting is a newlywed couple's best friend. Our freezer is filled to the brim with deer steaks and ground meat. {and actually one of the leanest meats out there}
3. Mounting heads of animals on the wall is acceptable. Still resistant to this way of thinking. {we do have an Antelope in our office. No more allowed. }
4. The mountains can be just as fun and beautiful as the beach. {My beach bum mentality is slowing morphing into an outdoorsy one}
5. Fall weekends will rarely be spent at home. {To the cabin we go for mountain advenure}

There really is no better getaway than a cabin in the woods surrounded by hundreds of acres. Nothing to do but explore and enjoy nature, or snuggle up inside with a cup of coffee and a good book. I still haven't decided if I will try it out...

Any of you ladys have hunting hubbies or do some hunting yourselves?

My handsome hunter.

My view from the cabin, and favorite part of our weekends there.

Starbucks stops on the turnpike on the way to the cabin, don't mind if we do.

Porch view and inside view, love this place.

Time Flies.

Today marks 5 months since June 16th, 2012. The day we became Mr. and Mrs....and I've got some news for ya: marriage is just downright fun. Its funny to think back to all of the "advice" we got before our big day. People said things like "The first year is the hardest", "Good luck", "You sure will get to know each other well" {well yaa isn't that the point} Honestly, we are still confused by all the negativity that seems to surround the reputation of marriage. Is it perfect? No. Is it always a smooth sunny road? Absolutely not. But thats the beauty of it.

Things aren't 'hard'. Yes, we already bicker like an old married couple, but after we get it out of our system giggles and jokes are all that result. Sure, living with someone 24/7 has been a learning experience, probably the best way to really get to know someone, but to me thats just awesome that theres always something else to learn. I thought on our wedding day I had Weston pretty figured out. Ha.

5 things I've learned about my husband in the last five months:

1. Towels are irrelevant. Drying off in the shower is a foreign concept. Who knew there was a such thing as a bath mat. Getting dressed while partially wet doesn't even phase him. Icky. {I'm training him slowly}
2. Peanut butter marshmallow crackers packed in his lunch makes me the coolest wife ever.
3. He's a huge snuggle bug. {love it.}
4. He snores and talks in his sleep, which makes for some hilarious stories and entertainment for me, the night owl.
5. He is a gem of a helper when it comes to cooking, dishes, and chores and even starting laundry, but he won't even think about touching clean, ready to be folded laundry. {My ocd color coordinated closet thanks him}

With all of that said, I am beyond thankful for my Mr. , my roomate, my husband, my best friend. Heres to many more months and learning experiences ahead! Life is beautiful, and we are abundantly blessed.

Simply Delicous.

How is it possible that November is halfway over? I am finding myself thinking thoughts of snow, cookies, cozy nights, presents, lots of family time. I know, I know, its not even Thanksgiving yet, but the anticipation is what makes holidays so warm and fuzzy, so why not start early? Bottom line is, the pumpkins had to go. I never did get around to carving them {oops!} But, their seeds make for a simple yet delicious snack!

Add a little spice for some extra flavor:
~sea salt (classic)
~cinnamon and salt {sweet & salty}
~Italian seasoning and garlic salt
~olive oil and balsamic vinegar

1. Do surgery on pumpkin. 2. Remove guts and rinse off the keepers. 3. Sprinkle with desired
 topping and put in 350 degree oven. Stir occasionally. 4. Enjoy!

Monday Meditation.

I was already running 5 minutes behind schedule.
Monday mornings are never easy.
Traffic came to a stop.

Sitting in stand still traffic for an hour gives one time to think.

First thoughts were panic.
Arriving late on my second week of my new job is not good.
Then, came thankfulness.
If I had been "on schedule" I just may have been in that accident.
The accident that was causing the backup.
Just a few minutes ahead.

Arriving 40 minutes late wasn't so bad afterall.
My Monday thoughts,

What trials, problems, hardships, unanswered prayers are you facing today?

Maybe, just maybe, they are teaching you something, allowing you to grow, strengthening your faith? Maybe they are blessings in disguise?

On that thought, take a listen to this tune. Its been the soundtrack to turn around my Monday mood <3

Sunday Shower.

  Adorable details from the baby shower of a good friend today. Can't wait to welcome her precious little girl into this world in January!
1. Handmade quilt, gift from the Momma-to-be's Momma
2. Cutest little favor idea.
3. My creation for baby from the "customize a onesie" station.
3. Just a taste of the many sweet treats.

The glowing Momma-to-be.

Thrill of the Hunt.

Something you should know about me: I rarely buy clothing at full price.

I am a bargain junkie. I would say a good 75% of my closet was discovered at Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Consignment Shops. I do shop at malls and department stores, but you better believe I go straight to the Clearance racks.

Why? Its more of a hobby than anything. I have an odd addiction to scrounging through "junk" to find a unique "treasure". What can I say? Mr. likes hunting animals, I like hunting bargains. Over the years, Anthropologie, Coach, Lily Pullitzer, The Limited, Ann Taylor and many other name brand items became a part of my wardrobe for a steal. Todays outfit includes a few of my recent finds...

Shoes: $2 Consignment Shop (Aerosoles)
Jeans: $0.85 Goodwill Bargain Bins (The Gap)

Blazer: $16 Wet Seal
Blouse: $10 Banana Republic

Happy Sunday!
